Oxygen in dense interstellar gas ? The oxygen abundance of the star forming core ρ Oph A
Context. Oxygen is the third most abundant element in the universe, but its chemistry in the interstellar medium is still not well understood. Aims. In order to critically examine the entire oxygen budget, we attempt here initially to estimate the abundance of atomic oxygen, O, in the only one region, where molecular oxygen, O2, has been detected to date. Methods. We analyse ISOCAM-CVF spectral...
متن کاملAccretion in the ρ - Oph pre - main sequence stars ⋆
Aims. The aim of this paper is to provide a measurement of the mass accretion rate in a large, complete sample of objects in the core of the star forming region ρ Oph. Methods. The sample includes most of the objects (104 out of 111) with evidence of a circumstellar disk from mid-infrared photometry; it covers a stellar mass range from about 0.03 to 3 M⊙ and it is complete to a limiting mass of...
متن کاملThe interstellar C 18 O / C 17 O ratio in the solar neighbourhood : The ρ Oph cloud ⋆
Observations of up to ten carbon monoxide (CO and isotopomers) transitions are presented to study the interstellar CO/CO ratio towards 21 positions in the nearby (d∼140 pc) low-mass star forming cloud ρ Oph. A map of the CO J=1–0 distribution of parts of the cloud is also shown. An average CO/CO isotopomeric ratio of 4.11 ± 0.14, reflecting the O/O isotope ratio, is derived from Large Velocity ...
متن کاملThe H 2 O abundance and star formation history in ρ Oph ?
Iso-Lws observations towards a large number of different positions in the core of the ρOph cloud are used to place a limit to the abundance of wide spread H2O. From Nlte excitation and radiative transfer modelling the average line spectrum of the ρOph cloud, we find X(H2O) < 10−6 to 10−5. We interprete these results within the framework of the dynamical chemistry models by Bergin, Melnick & Neu...
متن کاملAlma Observations of Ρ-oph 102: Grain Growth and Molecular Gas in the Disk around a Young Brown Dwarf
We present ALMA continuum and spectral line observations of the young Brown Dwarf ρ-Oph 102 at about 0.89 mm and 3.2 mm. We detect dust emission from the disk at these wavelengths and derive an upper limit on the radius of the dusty disk of ∼ 40 AU. The derived variation of the dust opacity with frequency in the mm provides evidence for the presence of mm-sized grains in the disk outer regions....
